My dirt pile brings all the boys to the yard, my dirt pile is better than yours. Any better and I’d have to charge.
The construction project has brought out all the male genes on our street. Heck, I looked out my window the other day and saw a boy I’d never seen before, digging away. Thankfully, he came with the lady in the pink shirt. With dirt, construction materials, 2 foot long nails, and foot long pieces of rebar, what boy wouldn’t think of my yard as a paradise? Huge nails, and steel pipes, 3-5 year old idiot males…what could go wrong??
This long weekend found plenty of things getting marked off of my to do list. Dig a bunch of holes to finally plant tomatoes in? Check.
Monday morning, I’m heading to my favorite source of blueberries to buy three more plants. He sells the plants at our farmer’s market, but if you go to his house, he gives you a huge discount. It will bring our grand total up to 15. On less than 1/5th an acre of land. I’m always shocked when I see people planting flowering bushes that are non-edible. Blueberry bushes are zero maintenance, beautiful when covered with pink or white flowers, stunning in fall when the leaves are bright crimson, and wonderful and edible for about 10 weeks a year. They’re just so lovely; why would you want some boring ornamental?
Make homemade fruit snacks with Jack? CHECK!!!
I’d share the recipe, but I don’t feel like it is quite “there” yet. I need to tweak some things and try again maybe once or twice until I feel like I can unleash it to the world. Until then, we’re enjoying the near misses. I might say that everything is awesome…
Until the wondrous day I can share the perfected recipe, hurry over to get some of the fabulous silicone Lego molds for yourself!
Finish one of three quilts I need in the next two weeks? Check! I have the top of another completed, and just need to get material for the back. Photos coming in a few weeks. The other quilt isn’t even a twinkle in my eye yet. The idea will hopefully come to me soon. God willing. Please God, send me an image.
Meal plan time! Reminder, I only plan dinners. My breakfast of choice has changed, and I’m now obsessed with homemade Greek yogurt with tons of cut up fresh fruit (or fruit I froze in the summer), and a homemade granola bar crumbled on top. It’s delicious and keeps me completely full and satisfied until lunch. Lunches are always leftovers. We rarely eat dessert during the week, and our dinner drink of choice is water kefir soda.
Monday:: Tomato soup (canned from the garden last year), grilled sandwiches, and grilled asparagus.
Tuesday:: Frittata, and grilled asparagus (only a few more weeks left in the stinky pee stick season).
Wednesday:: Fried rice, lumpia (from the freezer), and some shredded pork teriyaki from the freezer.
Thursday:: Dinner at my in-laws.
Friday:: Popcorn dinner; best dinner of the week!
Saturday:: I’ll be at the Mother Earth News Fair!!
Sunday:: Family dinner at my parent’s. They provide the main dish, and we provide the sides, appetizers, and dessert.
I went with a new friend on Friday to the world’s best grocery store. It was her first time. I felt like taking a kid to Disneyland. I spent waaaaaay too much money there, as I am wont to do when I head up there. It’s major stock up time every trip. I bought oodles of their homemade tortillas (they freeze beautifully), one half gallon (yes, a whole half gallon) of crazy high-quality cocoa powder that I was completely out of (foolish me), spices, beans, and some lovely handmade soap. I spent $57 there.
I haven’t done my other grocery shopping yet, but hopefully it won’t be too much. We need: bananas,celery, green onions, onions, asparagus, and strawberries.
What are you having this week?
