Meal plan for September 1st-7th

My jaw hurts, my teeth feel loose, and my jeans are tight.

I think I ate too much taffy at the ocean.

Like, waaaaaaaay too much taffy.

My friend and I became taffy experts during our trip to Ocean Shores.  We ended up labeling one store the “Crappy Taffy” store, and the other was “Taffy Heaven”.  For what it’s worth, if you’re headed to Ocean Shores, “Taffy Heaven” is in the complex behind McDonald’s (near the Ocean Shores bakery and moped rental place).  It is not the place where they advertise “handmade taffy”, but the little gift shop next door.  All the taffy is right in front of the register.  Follow those directions, and you’ll be in Taffy Heaven.  We highly recommend the root beer float, candy corn, and red licorice.

We had a lovely three days with our friends at my in-laws beach house.  It’s so nice to go on vacation with fun people, eat good food, and have a free place to stay.  The weather was amazing…I’ve never been to the Washington coast when I only had to wear a light jacket; no parkas were needed!  (that’s huge).  It was so nice, that Troy even went paddle boarding on the canals.

Some of the photos below are repeats if you follow me on Instagram.

I call this one, “Jack Splash”

This one is titled “sexy freak calves”:

Vengeance was ours because we then gave Jack sand boobs.  Cause we’re 12.

Just trying to get ONE nice photo is challenging with a five year old:

After three solid days of excessive taffy consumption, my “cleanse” starts on Monday.  Right after I make s’mores cupcakes for family dinner today.  Booyah!  Someone asked me last week about my “cleanse”, and I’ll do a post on it later this week.  The down and dirty of it is just eating really clean to reset my eating habits and give myself a chance to decompress from junkie eating.

Meal plan time!  Reminder, I only plan dinners.  My breakfast of choice is homemade Greek yogurt with tons of cut up fresh fruit (or fruit I froze in the summer), and a homemade granola bar crumbled on top.  It’s delicious and keeps me completely full and satisfied until lunch. Lunches are always leftovers.  We rarely eat dessert during the week, and our dinner drink of choice is water kefir soda.

Monday:: Chopped salad (minus the bacon), chicken sausage, and fruit.
Tuesday:: Kalua pig, with fresh salsa, avocado, chopped salad, and fruit.
Wednesday:: There is a movie playing at our local library.  I’m trying out a new “lunch” style meal to see if it passes the Jack test.  Homeboy starts kindergarten NEXT MONDAY!  Ack.
Thursday:: Our final Thursday dinner at the in-laws.  Big boy Jack will no longer be at their house for once a week babysitting.
Friday:: Popcorn and movie night!
Saturday:: Spicy Asian greenbeans (I’m going to actually take photos this time and share the recipe with you next week), and caprese salad.
Sunday:: Family dinner at my parent’s.
This week I spent a boatload on groceries.  I went to the our local butcher to pick up the pork butt (hee hee) for the Kalua pig, and they mentioned the crate of chicken breasts I had ordered was in.  So, $141 at our local butcher, $3.50 for raw milk at the farm, $34 at Costco, $30.75 at the grocery store, and $20.05 at our local fruit stand.
What are you having this week?

Pin this awesomeness!

I love all the photos! It looks like you got one decent shot of him (gotta love digital cameras!). Also, I really want to make a trip to the coast. Either one.

We need to do a cleanse around here in the worst way. However, when the broken hubby has no appetite and can’t stop loosing weight, when he says that chocolate chip cookies sound good, that’s what he gets. Thankfully they are the gluten-filled ones that I can’t eat.

We have been living on magic noodles (gluten free noodles cooked in bone broth), rice cooked the same way, and for the kiddo and myself, gluten free cereal and almond milk.

But, my mother-in-law gets out here tomorrow, so maybe someone will actually have the energy to cook and do dishes for all of us.

With three weeks worth of green beans in my fridge, I’m excited to see this green bean recipe.

Getting good photos as they get older is no easier. Sure, they take selfies like crazy, but if Dad or I aim a camera at them, it is either a goofy face, or a pair of hands covering it!
